Mr. John L. Elliott, 72 years of Salem and formerly of Lynn, died suddenly at home on Friday September 5, 2008. He is the husband of Mrs. Carol Ann (Nelson) Elliott. He was born in Lynn, the son of the late Harold and Helen (O'Brien) Elliott. He was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Technical High School. He has lived in Lynn most of his life and the past 6 months in Salem.
Mr. Elliott was an avid New England Patriots fan. Mr. Elliott was a member of IUE Local 201. He loved to camp and his second home was the Apple Valley Campgrounds in Acton, Maine. He loved sports and played soft ball with the Buckingham Softball Team. He also played basketball, golf and horseshoes. He loved to travel. He was also involved in the Special Olympics.
Mr. Elliott was a welder at the General Electric Company, Riverworks plant for many years. Most recently he was a bus driver for North Reading Transportation for 10 years and prior to that as a bus driver for Laidlaw Bus Co. for 8 years.
In addition to his wife with whom he shared 46 years of marriage he leaves his children, Julie A. Elliott-Conway and her husband Robert of Manchester NH, Maureen M. Elliott and her friend Sineth Bong of Lynn, Michele Elliott-Dickerson and her husband Eric of Saugus, Darlene D. Calder and her husband Stephen of Lynn, Curt B Hynes and his wife Beatrize of Lynn, Debra A Morin and her husband David of Nahant, He leaves his grandchildren John R. Bernard , Amara M. Conway, Robert N. Conway II, Tamara A. Conway, Jeremy J. Elliott, Joshua L. Elliott, Jayson L. Elliott, Eric A. Dickerson, Jr., Jennifer L. Calder, Stephen Calder, Jr., Stacey and Andrea Hynes, Aleshia M. Morin, Matthew D. Morin and the late Nicole Michele Conway. He also leaves two great grandchildren, Gisselle Hynes and Mia Bernard. He is the brother of Harold Elliott, Helen Simmons, Phyllis McDonough, Mary Shepardson and the late Ann Spencer. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday , September 10, 2008 at 10:00 AM in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rte 129) Lynn. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 3 to 9 PM.
