Mr. George E. Kenny, Jr., age 84, of Peabody, died Wednesday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Anna M. (Finnegan) Kenny, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late George E. and Mary E. (Ward) Kenny. He was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1945. He also attended St. Lawrence College in New York.
George served in the United States Army Air Corps Reserve in 1944 before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1945. He worked as an engineer for Boston Gas Company for many years until his retirement. He was also a member of the AMVETS Post 161 on Western Ave. in Lynn. George loved flying and had piloted his own plane. He also loved animals.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons; Michael David Kenny of Peabody, Shawn Patrick Kenny and his wife Angel of W. Newfield, ME, and Steven Austin Kenny of Madison, NH; one daughter; Kathleen A. Hall and her husband Fletcher of Salem; nine grandchildren; Erin, Gregory, Christopher, Michelle, Ashley, Amanda, Ryan, Caroline, and Benjamin; two great-grandchildren; Morgan and Brody; and one brother; Joseph Kenny and his wife Patricia of Plaistow, NH; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Elinor Trott.
His memorial service will be held on Sunday at 12:30PM in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Memorial visiting hours are Saturday from 2-6PM.
