Mr. Donald E. Pierce, age 77, of Lynn, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Union Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Barbara J. (Robinson) Pierce.
A lifelong resident of Lynn, he was the son of the late Elmer and Anna (Curtin) Pierce. He was a graduate of St. Maryâ€(TM)s Boys High School.
Mr. Pierce had served in the United State Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He had worked as a compounder for area companies, such as, HP Hood, Glenmere Hub Die, and Chomeric/Parker Hanifan, Woburn.
A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed golfing, trips to Foxwoods, and most especially, spending time with his grandkids and family. He had many memories of the trip to Ireland that he took with his family in 2006. A Communicant of St. Pius V Parish in Lynn, he was also a 33 year member of the Knights of Columbus, Valladolid Council #70, Lynn.
He is survived by 2 sons; David E. Pierce and his wife Chris, Jeffrey A. Pierce, a daughter; Dawn Marie Johnson and her husband David, all of Lynn, 4 grandchildren; Bryan Pierce, of Plymouth, Ashley Pierce, and Matthew and Chad Johnson, all of Lynn, 2 sisters; Marilyn Walsh, of N. Andover, Janet Zinkiewicz, of Ohio, 2 brothers; Norman Pierce, of Peabody, and Robert Pierce, of W. Barnstable, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lorraine and Raymond Pierce.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday at 8am from the Solimine Landergan & Richardson Funeral Home 426 Broadway (RTE129), Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9am in St. Pius V Church. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 2-4PM & 7-9PM. Donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore 10 Elm Street Danvers MA 01923.
